A Charming Tale of Nature, Survival, and Friendship
Starring the voices of Lupita Nyong’o and Pedro Pascal, simply put, THE WILD ROBOT follows the aftermath of a shipwreck on a remote, wild island.
Off the bat, I’d like to say this is a charming film that’ll cater to audiences of all ages. THE WILD ROBOT is a laugh-out-loud adventure that’s full of heart and humor! Roz, a robot who crash-lands on a wild island, tries her best to survive, but her robotic ways don’t quite fit with the unpredictable animal world. From mistaking a fox for a malfunctioning machine to clumsily trying to befriend a goose, Roz’s attempts to adapt lead to one hilarious moment after another. The colorful animation adds to the fun, bringing the island’s animals and scenery to life in a way that’s both playful and vibrant.
What makes this film so enjoyable is the lovable characters and their quirky interactions. Roz’s robotic logic clashes with the wild instincts of the island’s animals, like a bossy beaver and a chatty squirrel, making for plenty of funny scenes. But along with the humor, the story has heartwarming moments about friendship and learning to belong. It’s the perfect feel-good movie that will keep you laughing while also tugging at your heartstrings!
Directed by Christopher Sanders, THE WILD ROBOT also serves as metaphor with all of its informative social commentary, which is fitting for modern times of divisiveness. That being said, this piece will solidify itself as one of the best animated features released this year.
