"Mayimba Music, Has Been Named The 2015 Latin Billboard Publisher Of The Year!"

Mayimba MusicA family-owned company, Mayimba was founded in 1999 by musician and industry veteran,Marti Cuevas.  Over the last decade, the New York based firm has quietly created a name for itself, carving out a unique niche in an industry where multinationals reign supreme.

The company’s spirit of artist advocacy springs from the musical background of its founder. Marti traveled the world as a musician, and when she entered the business world, one of her goals was to help her musical peers protect their rights.  The family tradition of musicianship was passed to her son, guitarist Martin Carle, who is Mayimba’s Production Manager and Musical Producer – On any given day, Martin can be found perched behind the board in the cozy Mayimba studio, located on premises.

Mayimba’s roster of administered writers includes Anthony “Romeo” Santos, singer-songwriter Daniel Santacruz, emerging merengue-pop singer-songwriter, RENZO; Dominican merenguero of note, Silvio Mora; Miami-based Cuban rapper, Eddy K and his producer,Sharo Torres; revered Cuban artist, producer and composer, Edesio Alejandro, among many others.

Mayimba Records, Inc., Mayimba Music’s affiliated record label, is releasing a bevy of new projects this year.  Genres run the gamut from Jazz to Pop, including the anticipated debut EP from singer/songwriter/dancer RENZO entitled “ENAMORADO;” and a studio album by Silvio Mora.

Mayimba has also been active in the philanthropic and educational arenas. Most recently, Marketing Director Zoila Darton created and curated the inspirational Women’s History Month campaign: #IAmAMayimba.   In addition, she worked closely with Sadye Campoamor, the Special Advisor for Community Affairs at the NYC Department of Education to develop a series of educational workshops that brought professional women to public high schools. Participating women were chosen from the #IAmAMayimba campaign to share their professional experiences and life inspiration with students. The workshops concentrated on demystifying perfection, and demonstrating that success is a journey and not a destination.  Campoamor and Darton plan to expand these workshops into the next school year.

Committed to jazz, Mayimba is also a sponsor of the Jim Pepper Native American Jazz Festival, and is on board for the Woodstock Jazz Festival as well.

The Mayimba team is excited about the company’s continued growth and looks forward to releasing great content, inspiring youth and continuing to be a home for artists to create, while enjoying protection of their rights.
