"#NYFW – GQ Project Upgrade at Bloomingdales"
September 17-The closing of NYFW was definitely one to remember. You are probably wondering how someone can get into major events and score all the freebies at this time of the year. This was the first year that NYFW semi opened its doors to the public, which is known for invite only events .
Several big name companies had pop up shops to not only celebrate this extravaganza, but their products. Most of these shops were either opened 24 hours or selective hours with styling services, happy hour and more. Fashion Week is mostly seen as predominately women, but men have been recently more recognized.
The largest men fashion magazine GQ brought their project upgrade series to Bloomingdales NYC. In all the years I’ve attended fashion/beauty events, I have never seen a men’s event of this magnitude. It was swarmed with men and women scooping out the hottest trends for the season and trying the complimentary services (shoe shine, haircuts, styling, and monogramming).
During the event, unlimited complimentary drinks and refreshments including chicken nuggets by the nugget spot were served. Many guests chose to only focus on fashion by receiving personal styling.Shoe shining and haircuts by Blind Barber were the BEST services of the night. Each station provided 15-20 minute services and appointment slots were filled at the start of the event. It was so crazy that several men kept checking to see if appointments were cancelled to get next in line for haircuts or beard trimming. See you next year GQ!
