Carefree hosted an intimate open discussion and dinner with Actresses Ana Ortiz and Tia Mowry-Hardrict for their Speak Freely campaign. The event was held at the lovely Haven’s Kitchen that was nicely hidden and low key. It was the perfect setting for the female dominated group to mingle and chat about any and all issues related to hormones. The event started with a cocktail hour/open bar before heading to the main room for a 3 course meal. The room was filled with women from various media outlets accompanied by the bubbly personalities of Ana and Tia.
As these two ladies entered the room, you can see the excitement among them and the guests. After their introduction, Ana and Tia wasted no time discussing the time of the month aka our friend aka period. Both are mothers to young children and want them to feel comfortable whenever addressing this topic. Most importantly, Ana has a 7 year old daughter and does not want her to only resort to social media for answers. It is a topic that many tend to avoid, but have to face reality sooner or later.
It’s amazing to see female empowerment especially between two well respected women. Ana and Tia recently met for the first time, but based on their personalities, you would think they were long term friends. They are not only spokes models for this campaign, but created a video series to support it which was launched on the date of the event. A sneak peek of a 5 minute clip was shown and I would recommend anyone to watch it. Throughout the evening, Ana and Tia rotated between the two groups to spend quality time and getting to know each guest. I wish there were more celebrities that were as humble as these women. The stories we shared could’ve easily filled the pages of a book.
