The Dumbest, Funniest, Most Budget Superhero Flick Ever
This movie is straight-up goofy in the best way possible. Imagine an SNL skit that got a little too much funding and turned into a low-budget superhero flick—boom, that’s Novocaine.
Jack Quaid plays Nathan Caine, a boring bank guy who can’t feel pain. When his girlfriend (Amber Midthunder) gets kidnapped, he somehow stumbles his way into becoming an action hero. And I mean stumbles—this man fights like a drunk uncle at Thanksgiving. His best friend (Jacob Batalon) is just as clueless, and Ray Nicholson’s villain? Bro thinks he’s menacing, but he’s about as scary as a parking ticket.
The action? Ridiculous. The logic? Nonexistent. The entertainment? Through the roof. It’s dumb, it knows it’s dumb, and that’s why it’s hilarious. If you want Oscar-worthy storytelling, keep it moving. But if you’re down for some slapstick chaos and a dude getting beat up without even realizing it—this is your movie.
Final verdict: It’s stupid. You’ll love it.
