While one Stark girl gets one step closer to achieving her goal the other learns of a well guarded secret, but just WHAT could it be? Will the Lord Commander succeed where many thought he would not? What two characters on Game of Thrones have now formed the most unlikely of alliances?  Let’s discuss last week’s episode of Game of Thrones.
The alliance I have been WAITING for has happened as my two FAVORITE characters Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) FINALLY meet. At first Daenerys is unsure what to do with Tyrion, but after hearing him out she decides not only to spare his life but to bring him on as his advisor. INTERESTING!!! With Tyrion’s knowledge of politics paired up with the grace and compassion of Daenerys, I think when she’s ready to cross the narrow seas and retake the kingdom that’s so rightfully hers, she will be a force that none will dare challenge. Besides she is the Mother if Dragons with 3 living for breathing dragons, would you go up against her cuz I sure as hell wouldn’t! ANYTHING that Daenerys wants to do I am ALL for it! She is the Queen the people of the ruler the world needs who will turn back the tides of time and make the world one where ALL people can live in but thrive as well. HAIL Daenerys and LONG LIVE the Queen I say!
Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) continues to rot away in the cell she was placed into last week and now knows first hand what it means to suffer, what it means to have everything taken away from you and what it means to feel like nothing. The scene where she drank water off the floor was a SHINING moment for that character because it shows just how FAR from grace she’s fallen. Now whether this turn of events will change her for the better or not is too early to say, but if she’s smart then she’ll take this time to reflect on her life and ALL the wicked things she’s done over the years. Personally I hope they sentence her to death because that’s EXACTLY what she deserves, but if that happens then who will the viewers focus their hatred towards? Hmmmm, she may live to see atleast another season.
Now on to the Stark girls as Arya (Maisie Williams) begins the next phase of her training in becoming a faceless man. With guidance from Jaqen H’ghar (Tom Wlaschiha) it seems Arya is almost ready to go out on her first mission. We believe in you Arya so stay focused and keep your eye on the prize because you are destined for greatness! Elsewhere her sister Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) is still reeling from Reek/Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) telling her husband Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) about her plans to escape. What starts out as her tearing him down for being a coward turns into a eye opening revelation. Theon/Reek confesses to Sansa that he never killed her brothers and that infact it was two farm boys he killed and passed off as her brothers (this was back in season 2). ALAS someone within the Stark family knows that Bran and Rickon are alive and out there somewhere. I HOPE this will be the motivation that Sansa needs to escape and find her younger brothers. HOLD on boys your sister is coming for you!
Last but certainly not least is Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and the Wildlings. The Lord Commander traveled to their homeland to try and broker a peace deal which ends with the Wildlings split with half willing to go back with Jon and fight alongside the Night’s Watch while the other half have no interest in aligning with those responsible for the deaths of many of their people. In the midst of those leaving for the wall, an attacked is mounted by the threat they ALL hope to survive, White Walkers. They are an army of undead zombies who will either kill you or turn you into one of them. DRAW YOUR SWORDS! The battle rages on as the those of the Night’s Watch who came with Jon battle valiantly with the Wildlings and though many fall in battle, so do White Walkers. Jon goes toe to toe with a particularly fearsome one and in an unexpected turn of events, Jon decimates his foe with the swing of his sword. Could it be? Is there more then just dragon’s glass that can kill a White Walker? It seems so and the answer is within the sword for Jon’s blade is made of valyrian steel. There may yet be hope in the battle that is upon them this winter. Episode #9, the second to last episode of this season, airs tonight at 9pm on HBO.
